It’s June 1970, and for My Father, the next few days will determine the course of the rest of his life. If Labour wins the General Election on Thursday, as all the polls predict, his reputation as the first modern spin-doctor will be made, and every door will be open to him. Then if he can just extricate himself from his catastrophic marriage, preferably without destroying his family, he will be free to start a new life, the one he’s always wanted, with the Woman He Loves. What can possibly go wrong?
