The main imagery on this website, and in the ebook, has been created using AI.
The colourful scenes on the home page and at the front of My Father keeps the PM waiting (1970) were generated by Midjourney from a brief outlining my father’s involvement in Harold Wilson’s election campaign.
The snapshots at the front of Scenes from My Father’s life (1926-2002) are computer-generated – except one real pic of my father, which was used as a prompt for all the others.
The charming black and white illustrations in the 1970 section are the work of a talented human being, Simon Henshaw.
Similarly, the idea for using AI – to lend a topically apt visual identity to a book that shamelessly obliterates the line between fact and fiction – came from the brilliant creative mind of Dana Robertson, who also designed this site.
